Message from Chairman of the TTFR

Dear friends,

On behalf of the Table Tennis Federation of Russia I have pleasure to present our bid to stage the 2010 World Table Tennis Championships in Russia’s capital city – City of Moscow. For all of us, who love and admire table tennis, the World Championships represent an ultimate festival of this magnificent sport and we will certainly enjoy it no matter of where it is staged.

However we at our Federation strongly believe that Moscow constitutes a perfect match for this grand and captivating sports event. Moscow represents a unique cultural heritage, possesses political and economic grandeur, and is truly one of the world’s sports capitals, featuring top class sports infrastructure. It is also known for a remarkable attention which city’s authorities have always been giving to the development of both high performance and grass-roots sports. It that respect I am glad to inform you that we have secured full and unconditional support to our bid from the Mayor of Moscow Mr. Yuri Luzhkov, a renowned sports patron.

Being a Federal Cabinet Member I would also like to assure you that the Government of the Russian Federation will provide all necessary conditions for staging the World Championships.

As the main venue for the Championships we suggest Moscow’s landmark sports complex “Olympiysky” which is a multi-purpose venue capable of hosting 22 various sports, including, of course, table tennis. The complex fully complies with the ITTF regulations.

We are confident in our ability to offer the ITTF the most favorable and unrivalled conditions for staging the 2010 World Championships. Also, there is no doubt that, if staged in Moscow, the Championships would strongly encourage table tennis to further develop in Russia, making it one of the top sports of our 140-million nation.

Please consider this message as personal and most amicable invitation to enjoy a renowned Russian hospitality and share with us our mutual passion for table tennis.

Sincerely,

                                                                                                                             Igor Levitin
